On the Needles – February 28th

It’s been awhile since I’ve done an on the needles post, but I just have to share this lovely scarf that’s currently on my needles.

The yarn is Skinny Bugga from the Sanguine Gryphon (this dyer has now split into 2 different companies) and it has been languishing in my stash for years!  I love the merino/cashmere/nylon yarns so very much!!

The pattern is called Cables & Lace Scarf and I’m test knitting it for Leah Michelle Designs (love her patterns and have tested several)

Yarn Report – February 21st

Well this week is a much more manageable yarn report.  I ordered special limited edition yarns for Valentine’s Day from Canon Hand Dyes.  They are inspired by 80’s movie icons Cory Haim & Corey Feldman…….

Yarn Report – February 14th

Well I warned you that this was gonna be a HUGE yarn report week.  It was kinda scary just taking pictures of everything..

On a good note, I finished a super secret swap project (that I can”t share pictures of yet) that used a 1 skein of yarn….Woohoo!

And now for the confession….

I went to Michael’s last weekend and discovered that they now have some luxury (MCN) sock yarn!!  Had to pick some up as well as some pretty bright Kroy sock yarn that will likely become a scarf gift for someone on my list…

Then on Monday I received a swap package that included a yummy skein of an alpaca blend yarn that is SUPER SOFT!!

Also a couple more skeins of Lollipop Yarns arrived (one from an update and one from a destash)…This yarn is super hard to catch for sale and I’m thrilled to have some more of it!!

Then the Knit Picks BIG BOX arrived….OMG!!  There is enough there for 3 pairs of tweed socks….and 1 full colorwork sweater and the accent colors for 2 more colorwork sweaters to use with yarns that I already have in my stash….all total, the Knit Picks box contained 44 skeins of yarn (those loose skeins are sitting on top of 20 skeins of bagged yarns)….Keep in mind, most of it is worsted weight so it will knit up fast, but OMG I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole!!

Yarn Report – February 7th

It’s been an interesting week for stash enhancement here….Somewhere along the line I think I was supposed to be getting the stash under control..Yeah, right, notsomuch…

As I mentioned last week, I had to order more Felici self striping sock yarn because it’s done been discontinued (a skein of stroll tonal came along for the ride and will be used soon in a hat)….and my February Random Fandom yarn arrived

Next week will be even more stash additions.  Knit Picks keeps tempting me with sales.  Their wool sale ended this week and I had to indulge….on the bright side, after the order arrives I will have yarn for 3 sweaters (YIKES!!)

I have not finished anything this week.  I’m still plugging away on a super secret swap project though.

Yarn Report – January 31st

This week was pretty productive… I finished a couple of projects and added a few skeins to the stash.  It’s so very nice to use up some of my older stash though.  One of the projects used yarn that has been in the stash for over a year, the other was a newer purchase (bought around the end of 2013 with no particular project in mind).

This scarf was knit with one of my new favorite yarns, Fish Belly Fiber Works Tributary in the Pam (True Blood) colorway.  I love the pooling of this project and it is so soft and light I will be able to wear it during a large part of the year.  I also used the full skein of yarn for this one, YAY!!

The other project I finished is the Hogwarts Express Shawl by Susan Ashcroft.  I love her patterns and once again used the entire skein of Dragonfly Fibers Djinni Sock yarn in the Fresh Olives colorway.

And here are this week’s additions….

IMG_0339

I recently discovered that Knit Picks has discontinued their Felici yarn line.  I love both the fingering and sport weight versions of this self striping yarn.  So I am buying as much of it as I can before it is gone for good.  So 3 of the new stash skeins are Knit Picks Felici fingering weight sock yarn (2 skeins of Green Veggies and 1 skein of Building Blocks).  The other yarn is from Lollipop Yarns, this yarn is EXTREMELY difficult to buy.  She updates every 2 weeks and the updates sell out in less than a minute.  I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time to purchase a pre-order of her Chaos Theory colorway.  I cannot wait to knit a pair of socks for me out of this luscious yarn!!

Next week’s report will be pretty depressing….I have ordered quite a bit of Felici and there’s a couple other things on the way as well….Oh well, ya can’t take it with you hehehe…

Oh and did you all know about the Ravelry feature where you can export your stash stats to Excel??  Yeah I discovered it the other night and looked at my totals….then I converted the yards to miles….yeah so I have approx 110 MILES of yarn in my stash….Kinda scary
